A Revolution in Consciousness

Captain Planet came to me in a vision and told me that he is assembling a new team of planeteers and since I already have the ability to communicate with animals, he wants me to be the 'heart' component. He also liked that I wasn't a wuss like the South American boy who used to have the job. I had to turn down the offer, as my purpose is more human orientated than environmental.

Just kidding. I'm not that crazy yet.

I am finally getting around to writing about the consciousness revolution. This is the most important idea on my mind at the moment and I've been talking about it for years, but really intensely within the last few months. I will start by describing the phenomena of telescopic evolution. This is a copy of a previous blog that I wrote on myspace awhile ago:

Telescopic Evolution
Telescopic evolution states that time is marked with periods of major breakthroughs and that because each successive breakthrough stands on the shoulders of the previous, it takes less time to come about. For example, it took 2 billion years for life to evolve on the earth. After that, sexual reproduction came about in 1 billion years, allowing for greater genetic variety and pushing evolution forward. Multi cellular organisms come about in less time than it took for sexual reproduction and more advancements are made in less time than the previous until we get to the evolution of mammals, primates and eventually human beings.

This ends the stage of physical evolution and the stage of mental evolution begins. After humans evolve INTO a species, we being to evolve AS a species. Language and symbolism evolves in a few hundred thousand years, enabling humans to share ideas and thoughts. Agriculture evolves in ten thousand years, enabling humans to settle in one location compared to the nomadic lifestyle of following the herds for food. Cities and civilizations come about after a few thousand years, allowing humans to congregate and share ideas on a larger scale. The scientific revolution comes after 400 years, the industrial revolution brings in technology after 150 years, and the information revolution after a few decades, which is where we stand today. At this point in time, we know more than humanity has ever known. All the information in all of the world's historical traditions is organized and available to us instantly.

Each turn of the wheel takes less time to come about and progress is constantly accelerating. Each of these major technological revolutions have allowed humans to reach higher plateaus. How amazing is it that we can instantly message someone across the world? However, what is really exciting is what will happen in the future. The amount of time required for another major turn of the wheel has shrunk to the point where they will be happening within the span of a human lifetime. This is something that has never occurred before. The information revolution is nearly complete. What do you think the next turn of the wheel will reveal?

The time has come for a wisdom revolution. We are a very technologically advanced species but still remain relatively immature. We are like children who find the candy drawer, overindulging until we make ourselves sick. Children can learn moderation and so can we. The world's knowledge is available to us like never before in human history. As far as religion and spirituality, a few hundred years ago, people only had access to the ideologies of their own geographic area. We are now able to compare the world's spiritual traditions and find commonalities and extract universal wisdom and truth. Many people have already done this. Aldous Huxley has a book called "The Perennial Philosophy" which talks about the universal truths that permeate all religious and spiritual traditions. We are starting to see a coalescence of these spiritual traditions, without the addition of religious dogma. We are starting to see people who do not claim a religion but who are still seeking out something higher and something deeper than materialism and the accumulation of wealth and status. More and more people are starting to wake up and become seekers and once you start seeking, it's only a matter of time before you start finding.

A Revolution in Consciousness
Despite the doomsday headlines and the apparent decline of the world, we are headed toward the path of recovery. If you listen to the voices of the humans around you instead of the fear generated by the news corporations, you will see it for yourself.

The wisdom revolution has been gaining momentum for a few decades now. I have only been paying attention to it within the last 6 years but changes are starting to happen more rapidly these days. It used to be quite hard for me to find like minded individuals but now it is much easier. I have noticed a definite change within the last two years and especially within the last six months. The growing interest in the spiritual is reflected in the popularity of certain television shows, books, movies, etc. "Lost" started out as an interesting show but when it was revealed to have a paranormal twist to it, popularity shot through the roof. "The Secret," which talks about the Law of Attraction, is a #1 best seller and backed by Oprah. Harry Potter! I'm not so into it personally but it's massively popular amongst children and adults alike. The new generation is also very environmentally conscious and cares about the state of the Earth to a much higher degree than any previous generation.

To speak a little less abstractly, people are starting to become more observant and notice things outside of their own thought bubble. We are noticing the synchronous patterns in our lives and in the lives of others, and allowing ourselves the opportunity to explore these patterns without disregarding them as coincidence. We are becoming more aware of the spectrum of positivity and negativity and after gaining this awareness, we are more apt to notice the negative people in our lives that drain us of energy. We start to shy away from these people and turn towards the positive people for relationships of mutual support and love.

As time goes on, more people will begin to awaken and this will continue at an exponential rate. Eventually, the presence of spiritual truth will be so prevalent that everyone will wake up. The people who hold power over the people of the planet will fight to maintain it but they cannot control the minds of awakened individuals. Once you are awakened you can never forget. By the way, I am not the only one discussing this matter. Many people far smarter than I have been writing books about this for a long time. The idea of a consciousness revolution has been around longer than written human history. There is no source to point to for the idea but it has always been around.
